IAGC uses a series of committees to progress our priorities. Members are encouraged to become active in our organization by joining one or more of the following five committees.
POLICY & ADVOCACY
The goal of the Policy & Advocacy committee is to advocate for gifted learners and their educational opportunities at the local, state, and national levels.
Recent state legislative efforts include supporting the needs of underserved gifted children, requiring acceleration policies in all districts, instituting accountability for the growth of gifted children, and increasing the data collected and reported to the public. Work has been done to maximize resources for gifted and talented children, and we need to continue advocating for funding and policies to support advanced learners.
The Policy & Advocacy Committee meets four times per year on Saturday mornings of our quarterly Board Meetings. (Committee Members can attend meetings in person or virtually from their homes.) Monthly committee meetings focused on projects may be scheduled by group members at times that are convenient for all.

This year, we are working to expand our virtual offerings and outreach to support educators and parents of children with gifts and talents.
