Lower School Teacher Position Description - 5th Grade

Position Summary: Quest Academy is seeking an innovative, dynamic, student-centered, and collaborative Fifth Grade teacher to join our faculty community for the 2022-2023 school year. Quest Academy hires talented educators who not only facilitate challenging and rigorous curricula but who also understand the importance of providing nurturing guidance through the development of essential teacher-student relationships. Quest teachers know their students, understand their students, and see students as individual thinkers and human beings.
At Quest, teachers place students at the center of their own learning, to facilitate engaging, hands-on and interdisciplinary learning experiences, and to have a deep understanding of child development, especially as it pertains to gifted learners. Quest also seeks to hire educators who possess a passion for service and a desire to grow personally and professionally in the field of education.

Minimum Qualifications and Attributes:
● A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred. Gifted Education coursework, certificate or degree preferred.
● Illinois Certification preferred.
● Minimum three (3) years teaching experience preferred, inclusive of work with gifted students
● Strong passion for teaching & commitment to student learning & development
● Ability to design challenging, hands-on, experiential, interdisciplinary learning activities that advance the targeted learning outcomes and fulfill the Quest mission
● Excellence in classroom management techniques
● Knowledge and understanding of various learning styles and differentiated instruction
● Outstanding ability to collaborate with colleagues
● Enthusiasm for professional development
● Ability to maintain confidentiality
● Excellent verbal, written, and observational skills
● Patience, good listening skills, and the ability to multitask
● Strong organizational and time management skills
● Flexibility in addressing the children’s as well as the school’s needs
● Experience with G-Suite (Google Apps) for Education preferred
● Working knowledge and experience with various computer systems
● Ability to use basic office equipment
● A valid First Aid Certificate from the American Red Cross, including CPR training, or the ability to obtain certification provided by the Academy
● Ability to plan, develop, and implement activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate
● Communicate student progress to parents (including parent conferences and completing end-of-trimester report cards), and being available to meet with students outside of class time for additional support.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School
