Vanguard Gifted Academy is a small, independent, K-5 elementary school located in Batavia, IL.  We specialize in serving the needs of gifted learners by offering a truly unique and innovative educational model.  

The Vanguard Model centers on three educational modules.  

1. Mornings are spent in Blended Learning: Building foundational skills through a blend of small mixed-age group mini-lessons and technology-based or independent activities that advances our students’ learning at their personal learning level.  

2. The noon hour is for Community Time: Building character, leadership, and community spirit through lessons on consensus building, innovative activities, traditional sports, and personal experiences that develop leadership traits. 

3. Afternoons are spent in S.T.R.E.A.M.: Simulations, problem-solving, and project-based learning to offer authentic application of skills across the domains of science, technology, research, engineering, arts, and math. 

Vanguard Gifted Academy is looking for an enthusiastic teacher eager to work in a new learning model that offers both autonomy and the opportunity to be an active member of a team of teachers who want to prepare gifted children for successful futures. This position includes teaching all subject areas to students ages 8-10, creating engaging lessons based on the Vanguard Model, reporting progress to parents, coordinating learning experiences with other teachers, preparing students for and attending Showcase Nights, and becoming an advocate for Vanguard.  

Qualifications Include: 

• Passion for and experience teaching gifted children

• Knowledge of teaching strategies for gifted learners

• Experience with gifted students grades 3-5

• Strong differentiation skills for both academic and developmental differences

• Strong desire to collaborate and collaborative skills

• Experience with technology integration

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree 

• Teaching Certificate or equivalent experience
