Position: Gifted and Talented Coordinator/Elementary-Northbrook 28
Description: The Gifted and Talented Services Coordinator will work with elementary teachers to differentiate the curriculum in order to provide opportunities for enrichment to challenge students. In addition, the Gifted and Talented Services Coordinator will provide services to identified students in the areas of math and literacy. Job Summary: · Collaborate with classroom teachers to create differentiated learning experiences for students, including planning, modeling, and co-teaching lessons · Work with small groups of students to deliver instruction, as well as conduct whole and small group lessons to promote and teach higher order thinking skills in math and literacy · Teach 4th and 5th grade advanced math replacement classes · Assist with overseeing and coordinating the needs of gifted and talented students in all areas · Assist with student evaluations as part of the gifted and talented identification process and communicate with the parent/guardian community Qualifications: · Valid ISBE Teaching Licensure · Completion of the Illinois Gifted Education Seminar or related Gifted Education Coursework Preferred · Leadership and facilitation skills · Flexibility to work across multiple content areas · Enthusiasm and creativity in teaching the gifted and academically talented student · Strong interpersonal skills · Ability to promote and provide professional development opportunities for teachers · Ability to collaborate with teachers to plan instructional units · Student-centered approach and a focus on the development of the whole child · Ability to communicate the identification process to staff and parents and collaborate with administration to communicate results District 28 Statement: Northbrook District 28 is comprised of four schools, with approximately 1,800 students.
