2012 Board Committee Goals

On-Going Committees
Awards and Scholarships - Nancy Heaton, Lori Swan     

1. Continue offering awards for students, parents, and teachers.
2. Continue advertising award opportunities to a larger audience.
3. Solicit contributions to fully fund Morreale scholarship.

4. Recruit and train additional committee members.

Convention - Mary Ann Paradise, Jane Seidel (consultants)

1. Continue offering a statewide convention at the Chicago Marriott Downtown, February 5-7, 2012.

    2. Evaluate the Administrators' Academy for continuation.
    3. Follow timeline as devised.
    4. Continue to support the Standards component in the Call for Proposal.

     

    5. Procure a site for the 2013 Convention and beyond.

    Executive - Bonnie Park, Rosina Gallagher, Sally Thomson, Michele Kane, Sally Walker
    1. Continue providing the leadership for IAGC.

     

      2. Advocate for funding and an endorsement.
      3. Increase effectiveness of website.
      4. Support implementation of 2012 goals.
      5. Oversee legal counsel's recommendations for implementation.

      Finance - Lori Swan, Executive Committee
      1. Prepare a fiscally responsible budget annually.
      2. Review the investment portfolio quarterly.

      3. Review the quarterly financial report before each board meeting.
      4. Develop a plan for using the income generated by the portfolio to further gifted education in Illinois.
      5. Perform a certified audit or review, whichever is required by law.

      Policy - Michele Kane, Sally Walker, Bonnie Park
      1. Update policy sections 5000, 7000, 8000, and 9000.

        2. Continue refining and recording policy decisions to comply with Mayer Brown recommendations.
        3. Make additional policy decisions as needed.

        Ad-Hoc Committees
        Standards - Julie Luck Jensen
        1. Review and align IAGC Standards with new Illinois Teacher Standards and NAGC-CEC Standards.

         

        2. Work to support a state gifted endorsement.
