President's Committees

Advocacy – Susan Rhodes
The goal of the advocacy committee is to educate the general public and decision-makers on how investing in the education of gifted and talented students benefits Illinois' economic growth and development.


Communications – Newsletter – Rosina Gallagher and Shirley Nocella (office), Journal – Joan Franklin Smutny, Other - Terry James Mohaupt (consultant).
The goal of the communications committee is to disseminate information and respond to queries via live, print and electronic means, and to publish a newsletter and journal.

Diverse Gifted Populations - Penny Choice, Laura Paull
The goal of the diverse gifted populations committee is to promote awareness, collaboration, and professional development in support of diverse gifted populations throughout Illinois.


Education - Andrea Zietlow; Laura Beltchenko (Early Childhood), Dianne (Mini) Woodard (Elementary), Lori Swan (Middle School) and Judy Minor (Secondary)
The goal of the education committee is to share resources with parents and educators to support best practices in the education of gifted and talented children.

 

Liaisons - Diane Beedy (ROE), Paula Olszewski-Kubilius (universities), Ben Hebebrand (independent/private schools)
The goal of the liaison committees is to serve as a link with state/regional offices of education, Illinois universities, public and independent/private schools and professional educational organizations.

The goal of the membership committee is to soclicit, maintain and increase statewide membertship of educators, parents and interested community members.

The goal of the parent affiliates committee is to increase networking opportunities for parents thoughout Illinois.

The goal of the professional development committee is to provide statewide opportunities for educators, parents, and community members to support the educational development of gifted and talented children.

The goal of the social and emotional committee is to provide opportunities and resources that promote understanding of the social and emotional development of gifted individuals.

Technology - Tracey Hosey
The goal of the technology committee is to promote the technological development of the organization and further services to its constituency.

The goal of the policy committee is to review policies and propose changes to the board of directors.
